The Railway Children is a story of three children whose family is forced into poverty when their father mysteriously disappears. They move to the country, and fall in love with the railway and all the men who work on it.

One adventure follows another, and life is all fun on the railway, until the children witness a terrible disaster. Suddenly, the lives of many people are in their hands, and it will take all their skill and courage if they are to save the day.

Meanwhile, the mystery of their father’s disappearance hangs over their lives. Where has he gone, and when will he return? In the end, it will take the courage and brilliance of a child to help bring him home.
